Biggest Nutrition Myths of 2019 #3

Don’t eat eggs! They’re bad for you and will increase your risk of cardiovascular disease.

The media seems to be having a hay day with this lately. They are really good at inflating issues and scaring people off from eating potentially healthy foods.

First off, there are NO direct studies linking egg intake directly to cardiovascular disease. The increase of CVD is purely assumed based on the possibility of your blood cholesterol levels being raised.

Even then, it is only a possibility. In a study with healthy individuals, they gave them 6 eggs per day, which is higher than the average egg consumption. In this study, most of the participants saw no change in blood lipids and only a minority saw an increase.

Eggs are a great source of protein, fats, B vitamins, choline, and selenium. All VERY important micronutrients needed in the diet.
