Skin is supposed to be mobile?

Skin is supposed to be mobile?

Yup. Sure is. When people think about joint pain or movement dysfunction they rarely think about the dermal layer of the skin potentially being the problem.

Skin should move in 8 different directions. Similar to the directions on a compass. Normal tissue generally moves smoothly. Abnormal tissue with typically have a “sticker” quality.

Once skin is stretched it should also “spring” back to its normal position in each direction.

If the tissue is sticky or doesn’t spring back, then that could be taken as threatening to the nervous system, which can cause outputs like pain of poor movement quality.

Here, I am moving around the clients skin below his knee in a specific direction for him that then allows him to do a stationary squat with zero pain.

The entire body is connected. Don’t overlook anything!
