3 Fitness Myths To Know

As you go about your workout protocol, striving for optimal success, it’s vital that you take the time to educate yourself about some of the biggest fitness myths that tend to circulate around.

Many people end up falling for these and they can quickly sabotage the success that they see.

Let’s look at the main ones to know so that you can prepare to face your workouts in the right direction.

You Must Squat

The first myth to take into account is the myth that you absolutely must do squats. While squats are most definitely an extremely effective exercise that you will very likely want to make good use of, if you cannot do them for whatever reason, it’s not going to be the end of your workout.

As long as you are able to sufficiently challenge the muscles with another exercise – leg press, lunges, or deadlifts or instance, you will still make good progress.

6 Days Of Training Is Best

Next, another myth is the myth that for best results, you should be hitting the gym six days a week doing strength training or cardio.

Remember, your body needs to rest. While for some, one day off may be enough, most people will need at least two days off each week in order to come into each workout they do feeling as refreshed as possible.

Learn your body. When it’s asking for more rest, give it that – it’ll reward you with better progress and strength gains.

If you push too hard when your body needs rest, you will just start to overtrain yourself.

You Should Leave The Gym Exhausted

Finally, the last myth that you need to banish from your mind is that you should always leave the gym feeling exhausted.

Again, this just isn’t the case.

If you feel so drained you can hardly move when you leave the gym, that’s a sign you’re on route to overtraining. You should feel tired, but energized at the same time.

Consider cutting back on the total volume you are doing with your workout session if you are leaving the gym too exhausted to do much other than sleep for the rest of the day.

So there you have some top myths that you must make sure you aren’t falling for. If you come to believe these, you are going to be headed for trouble ahead.
